Revitalise your Talons!

In Jo Davy, Maintenance, Nails on July 19, 2010 at 9:00 am

Sometime after O.P.I nail polish and I were introduced (nowadays, we do everything together) I made the decision to stop biting my nails.  Seeking redemption and putting the past behind me was however, no mean feat.  As anybody guilty of nail biting will tell you, even short periods of abuse will leave your nails weak, flaky and prone to splitting.

It was at my lowest point; after my manicure didn’t even last the night that I decided to seek solace in the bottle.  A 30 mL bottle of Dr LeWinn’s Revitanail Nail Strengthener, that is.

Apparently, I’d been living under a rock because this baby packs a mean punch when it comes to repairing fragile, flaky nails, and has the beauty awards to prove it.  Not wanting to waste more time, I grabbed a bottle and began the prescribed regime of two coats on the first day, followed by one every day thereafter for five days.

Almost immediately my nails stopped shooting me reproachful looks and began to shine.  They became stronger, stopped splitting and as a result, grew a lot faster.  After five days you’re supposed to remove the polish and begin the regime again, and I found I only had to complete the process a couple more times before my nails were happy and healthy.

I fell in love with this product even more when I discovered that two components of the formula just happen to be precious stones.  Diamond dust is used to harden the nail and prevent chipping of the polish, and pearl extract reinforces the protein in your nail to keep them strong and thwart any dryness or flaking.

More recently the team at Dr LeWinn has extended the Revitanail range to include nail lacquers in 12 scintillating shades.  The lacquers have the same nail strengthening properties as the original Revitanail, and the colours turned out to be as vibrant and strong as my nails are.

Made in Australia, at RRP $29.95 for a large bottle, Revitanail is affordable and is in no rush to go gluggy.  I use the nail hardener as a base and topcoat over polish, and if it weren’t for my fickle relationships with nail colours, and now my fast-growing nails, my manicures would last a lifetime.

Revitanail is available at Myer, David Jones, and most leading pharmacies.
