Tinted Moisturiser Test: Jane Iredale

In Colour, Complexion, Everyday, Foundation, Illuminator, Moisturiser, Multitasking, Primer, Skin Care, Sun, Tested, Tinted Moisturiser, UVA, UVB on September 22, 2010 at 6:00 am

This is the first post in what will be semi-consecutive posts welcoming back the return of tinted moisturiser.  While it never truly went anywhere, tinted moisturiser has connotations of sneaky ways to wear makeup to school when you weren’t allowed (“Miss, it’s moisturiser!”) and a go-to when you couldn’t afford or weren’t allowed to buy actual foundation.

Jane Iredale’s version – Dream Tint – has set the bar high in my trial.  The coverage is fabulous and the colour matches perfectly to my skin tone.  Plus, it’s thick and rich and extra moisturising.  I applied it, as suggested in the packet, with a blending brush and a little goes a long way.  Jane Iredale are definitely onto a good thing with Dream Tint!

Dream Tint has fabulous anti-aging properties and SPF 15, and is free of oil too!  Most of all, it acted as a nice primer for my Laura Mercier mineral makeup when I needed just that extra bit of coverage.

Tinted moisturiser is great for spring because it lets your skin breathe a little while also giving you the dewy finish you want from an illuminator and Jane Iredale’s is even better because all their products are pure mineral makeup.

Dream Tint is available in eight colours – Light, Medium Light, Medium, Medium Dark, Dark, Peach, Lilac and Warm Bronze – that adapt to your skin colour thanks to mineral boron nitride.  Lilac can be used to brighten sallow skin, while Peach is best to even out pigmented skin.

RRP $72.

  1. Hi Tammmi,
I’m a big fan of the Clinique tinted moisturiser 25+. I wear it most days and sometimes even at night as it just suits me. Saying that, I do tend to chop and change a bit. Jane

  2. Thanks Jane! I’ve used Clinique TM before (though it won’t be featuring in our round up). It’s got a great SPF and is a little bit dewy. In comparison, Jane Iredale’s is much lighter and more hydrating (great for oily skin types).
I’m currently wearing Estee Lauder’s DayWear Plus version – great coverage and feels like I’m wearing nothing at all!
