The Real Reason I Don’t Smoke

In Anti-Ageing, Cheeks, Complexion, Dry Skin, Everyday, Face, Natural, Neck on July 20, 2010 at 8:00 am

Everyone has rules and restrictions they place on themselves, and everyone has them for their own reasons. Here is a quick list of mine:

- Don’t squint

- Don’t go in the sun without SPF

- Don’t see the sun without sunglasses on

- Don’t frown

- Avoid pulling faces

- Drink very few glasses of alcohol

- Don’t smoke

- Don’t make a ‘kiss’ with your lips (that’s a pout, you know?)

So what’s my reason for this list?

To stop ageing.

Long Necks Require Maintenance

In Anti-Ageing, Complexion, Neck, Skin Care, Wrinkles on April 23, 2010 at 3:54 pm

Today I spent the day wandering the paths of Taronga Zoo in Sydney.  To be perfectly honest, I went to see the lovely baby elephant Shuffles (Its name isn’t actually Shuffles, but I think it’s cuter and more fitting!), but the giraffes are who I was most impressed with (and their spectacular view of Sydney – I mean, really, they have the longest necks in the Zoo biz yet are given the best view.  Surely the otters or lions would have preferred to have the best Zoo real estate when the giraffes can just look over everyone and still see the bridge!?  I digress…).

Bondi Bronze

In Anti-Ageing, Complexion, Favourites, Hair, Preparation, Skin Care, Sun, Tip, Trend, Weather on April 21, 2010 at 4:03 pm

Walking the Bondi to Bronte walk this morning, I noticed the reflection of the sunlight off the water was rivalled by the shimmering bronze bodies running, jogging, walking, squatting, side-stepping and swimming along the gorgeous beaches.  They were tan, tone and terrific.  They were also exposed to the sun.

To avoid turning 50 and discovering you look like a prune, look older than you are and have skin cancer, you simply must slip, slop, slap!  Hot bodies are only lukewarm when wrapped in leathery skin and surgery scars.  So, to still look amazing and be protected while running on the white sand, here’s my list of favourite Bondi-ready products. Love Food? Love Looking Youthful? Love Ella Bache!

In Anti-Ageing, Eco Friendly, Face, Moisturiser, New, Organic, Skin Care on April 21, 2010 at 1:59 pm

We often hear of the ingredients in our skin care coming from the vegie garden/orchard/flowerpatch/etc.  Apples are being touted as the new ‘wonder’ ingredient and now it’s that other fruit – tomatoes – that are making the beauty headlines.

Hip-Hooray for Rose Hip Oil

In Anti-Ageing, Breakouts, Eco Friendly, Face, Fragrance, Hands, Maintenance, Natural, Organic, Skin Care on April 15, 2010 at 2:44 pm

Did you know, rose hip oil has more Vitamin C than most citrus fruits?  True story.  Plus, it’s pretty because it is taken from the fruit of the rose (looks kind of like a strawberry, non?) Vitamin C is vital for good health as most people learnt as children as we ate oranges and chewed on juice-flavoured orange tablets when we were sick.  You face can benefit from rose hip oil’s Vitamin C, too, as it’s now found in a lot of cosmetics.  Trilogy make a great natural rose hip oil, and regular readers of CC will know I absolutely adore Kosmea‘s Clarifying Lotion with rose hip oil!  The oil smells great, too.

Product of the Day!

In Anti-Ageing, Colour, Face, Foundation, Makeup, Product of the Day on March 31, 2010 at 4:33 pm

I am in love with this product.  In fact, I’d go so far to say this is my favourite of all products at the moment.  When I first started using it, my skin went from combination/oily with pesky little blemishes to normal.  Normal! And it’s not even a skin care product!  What’s that?  Can I hear you screaming, ‘tell me!  Tell me!’?  Well, okay, seeing as you asked…

Laura Mercier mineral foundation.

It is so light when applied, a pot lasts forever and it gives flawless, radiant coverage by visibly reducing pores.  You can sweep it one and run to the shops with natural coverage, or enhance your flawless look with some blush and mascara for night.  Plus it has an SPF 15+ and contains anti-aging properties (and you all know how I love that).  A-maz-ing!

RRP: $65.

Age-Proof your Hands

In Anti-Ageing, Hands, Maintenance, Skin Care, Weather on March 30, 2010 at 1:22 pm

Eyes may be the windows to your soul, but your hands (and neck) are the keepers of your age.  Wrinkly, unkempt hands can disclose your age faster than it takes to put on some rubber gloves before doing the dishes.  Beyond your face, hands have the most exposed skin, always prone to sun damage, wear and tear, etc.  Brown spots, loss of elasticity and warts can form as a result.

Here are my tips and trick to keep hands looking youthful and younger than you really are.
