Beauty routine (day): Oh gosh! Okay, at the moment: Sodashi Lime & Clay Cleanser w/Kosmea Muslin Cloth, Philosophy Shower Gel in Melon Sorbet (delish), Sodashi moisturiser. Really simple, I’m low-key / a bit lazy with this at the moment. Read the rest of this entry »
So winter’s officially here. Yay! Boots, coats and lots of layers – the way I prefer it. But, it also means a change in makeup.
People tend to head into matte-town when it comes to winter makeup. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, but sometimes throughout the season, it’s nice to surprise all your onlookers with a dewy, luminous cheek that makes them all say “Wow”! This look can be done for day or night – just amp up your lips or eyes for an evening look.
Finding natural and organic skin care is relatively easy – there are several independent brands leading the way, and now even larger companies are releasing natural sides to their usual products. Finding natural makeup, however, has proved difficult. While the brands exist, I’ve found many fail to deliver and so the search continued.
Last week, Adorn Mineral Cosmetics arrived on my doorstep. One hundred per cent natural, with SPF 20+ in their loose foundations, water resistant, cruelty free, Australian made, a member of The Vegan Society, and no chemicals or nasty ingredients, Adorn checks all the boxes.
I love Orgasm. Everyone loves Orgasm. NARS Orgasm, that is. As you’ve read (or should read) on Coveted Canvas, NARS Orgasm blush is kind of the shiz! NikkiM thinks so, as do I. It’s a cult beauty product and if you ask any beauty editor what the best of the best blushers are, chances are they’ll be screaming “Orgasm!”.
Now, you can add to your Orgasm with new liquid Orgasm Illuminator. With subtle shimmer and a hint of bronze, the illuminator is flattering on all skin tones!
RRP: $60

You know those girls who always seem to have flawless makeup? Perfect red lips, hot smokey eyes and the face structure to really pull it off? I like to think I’m one of them, but in reality, I’m so not. Instead the person in my life who checks all those boxes is my friend Nikki. With high cheekbones, popping eyes and smokin’ sexy hair, she’s the epitome of modern girl beauty.
I recently asked her what her favourite products were, and here’s what she said:
On days when I have to go out and I feel more ‘glass half empty’ than ‘glass half full’, the two beauty products I absolutely must apply are curling mascara and a rosy blush. Without flushed cheeks, I feel dead in the face and less than perky.
Provided your skin is at its best (that post coming up next!), a sweep of blush on your cheeks should be all you need to add some life to your canvas, as shown at the Autumn Winter 2010/11 Aquascutum Ready-To-Wear show. Powder blush is best for when you’re in a hurry, although the creme cheek colours work a treat for the dewy look that was in a few seasons ago.
This season, however, it’s all about the natural matte look. Best created with powder blushes and a large blush brush, it take literally 30 seconds to pull this look off.
