As you may have read in my previous review on BodyScience products, I recently gave myself an ‘owie’ (as Ralph Wiggum might put it) at the gym. BSc’s line helped get me back on the running road.

But the soreness persisted.

It’s a busy life right now. I work 6 days a week most weeks, and my brain is nearly always gaming things through, going over and over work stuff. I’m not complaining; I love my line of work, it’s just… Sometimes you need to take your foot off the pedal. Pay attention to you. Relieve the soreness, yes, but ease the mental soreness too.

‘The Beauty Night’ and why you must schedule one

Ladies, you have to agree with me there is nothing better than feeling sexy, confident and beautiful – just for you.  But how do you get that way if you’ve worked three different deadlines in a row, felt sick from lunch and been told some horrible news?  You schedule it!  Just like your dentist appointment or meeting your superiors, this is important, too.  Once a week is all I ask, and I’ll explain why it’s so great right now…

Tonight was my ‘Beauty Night’.  I try to schedule one a week or – failing that – one a fortnight.  On ‘Beauty Night’ everything gets done. And I mean everything.  Here’s my ‘To Do’ list…

Obviously there’s no way I could (nor should) do all these on a daily basis, so scheduling one night a week to check everything off the list is not only a great idea, but also something to look forward to.  Because you feel AMAZING afterwards.

Current Obsession: Tangerine Lipstick

‘Invest Now, Rest Later’: Wise Words from a Cosmetics Founder

When and why did you create your mineral makeup line? Why natural? Why Vegan?

LaGlam was created in 2009, I wanted to create a brand that was natural and could offer my clients everything that they asked of me.  I am not vegan myself, however I believe if we can go back to basics and be as natural as possible with what we’re using on our skin then that’s got to be the better way. These days so much research is released showing causes of different diseases and I believe this is why people are looking towards more natural products rather than using chemicals etc.

How does the philosophy of your makeup line “Look and feel glamorous naturally” translate into your everyday life?

I believe that a woman should look naturally glamorous or beautiful without looking like she’s trying or that it’s intentional –a natural beauty is most appealing.

How do you look and feel glamourous naturally?  What do you do in your everyday life that adds a bit of glam?

My hair and makeup is always done, even for the early dash to school for drop off. By my makeup being done I don’t mean full glamour makeup but showing effort in my presentation to look natural but beautiful. Using LaGlam I can achieve this in less than 5 minutes giving me more time to get the kids ready!

Your Guide to New Years Eve Party Makeup

So, the end is near.  2010 has been a helluva year and as it comes to a close, we’re all making final arrangements on how to bid adieu in style.  Personally, I’m celebrating with a low-key house party.  And what will I be slapping on my face come 5pm tomorrow?  I’ve got a few options to share with you…

How to Achieve the Flawless Makeup Look

On Saturday morning at 9.30am, four ladies headed into Bella Hart Beauty Emporium in Subiaco with little or no makeup on to learn how to apply their makeup to look like supermodels – naturally flawless with glowing, spectacular skin.

When I was doing modelling, the very first thing I learnt was that this look – the look where it seems you’re wearing nothing at all – was the hardest of all looks to achieve.

Makeup artist, Rachel, took the four girls through the looks and showed them how to get the fabulous skin they’d dreamed of; the kind you only get from eating raw foods, drinking litres of water and staying out of the sun.  Except we faked the look with great products.

Colour My Lines!

I love, love, love winged eyeliner.  It’s just so hot on any woman at any time of the day.  You can extend the line at night for some extra va-va-voom or just wear it to the outer corner of your eye during the day.  The thing is, CCs, I cannot use a liquid eyeliner pen for the life of me.  No siree!

That’s why I was thrilled when I discovered Clinique‘s Brush-on Cream Liner in True Black.  It’s a little pot of highly-pigmented colour in a gel/cream form that you dip your (supplied) brush into and scribble over yourself however you like.  And if your brush goes dry there’s no need to buy a new one like you do with liquid eyeliners.  Nope, just pop that beauty back into the pot and we’re away again.
